Take Coke and Orbit ads, both are commercially produced in India that run globally...” However, such awe-inspiring examples are still few and far in between. Coming back to the glitzy international award nights where India seems to be a success story these days, ad-guru Prahlad Kakkar feels that the jury or the western world doesn’t understand our advertising. “They are just foxed with the execution which is over the top, emotional and colourful,” he says. So, is there a long way to go? “We don’t want to go there. There is no point in making a great ad which wins the awards and flops the product.” he exclaims.

Skoda’s small car all revved up and waiting to roll!

Size is beginning to matter – particularly in India’s booming and zooming auto market. Small is in, and everyone is rushing to cash in on the craze for small cars. And why not, given that with traffic conditions going completely out of control all across urban India, life is so much simpler when you have a smaller car to navigate on the roads! The latest to drive down the marquee with a small size variant is Czech car maker Skoda Auto, that will be launching its first small car Fabia this year. The aim, obviously, is to drive home the volumes.

Hindutva issue

As had been decided, the Sangh 'Parivar' (well, not really, but that's still the name) met in Lucknow at the BJP National Executive meeting on December 23-24, 2006. The RSS not only took good care of the grub available, but also made sure that the Ambedkar Park was full of sympathisers. Rajnath Singh was re-elected as the party President, but that’s not the scoop here. The party bigwigs met to mull over the election strategy in the upcoming UP elections. Harping on the age-old Hindutva issue, the party President was seen crooning over the Ram Mandir issue again.
